Dr. Q for CICS is an address management application available to on-line applications. Dr. Q for CICS is sold as a "black-box" type application which is callable from existing CICS applications. The software is packaged with several different "functions" which access information about Canadian addresses extremely quickly. Dr. Q was built for speed and minimal DASD access with much of a compressed version of the Canada Post directory being available to the region in core-storage. Incredibly, Dr. Q for CICS rarely even reads DASD, a process which can slow response time.

 

The "programmable" functions range from "find all street names beginning with a specified string sequence, in a given community" all the way to performing on-line address correction on an input address. Dr. Q for CICS is shipped with a working set of source code that is so comprehensive that it is often moved into customers production regions shortly after purchase.
